It is reported that for next year's Gaokao (National College Entrance Examination), the Zhuhai region will implement a fingerprint recognition system. An official from the Shenzhen Admissions Office stated that, although a final decision regarding the adoption of fingerprint recognition technology for next year's Gaokao has not yet been reached, a facial recognition system is currently under development. The official noted that Shenzhen is building this facial recognition system with the aim of deterring cheating and detecting attempts at academic dishonesty; however, the comprehensive plan for next year's Gaokao has not yet been finalized.

Currently, identity verification for the Gaokao in the Shenzhen region is primarily conducted through cross-verification, covering the examinee's personal profile, ID card information, recent photographs, and examination permit details. If on-site invigilators have any doubts regarding an examinee's identity, they utilize second-generation ID card readers for further verification. Furthermore, identity verification devices are currently being deployed sequentially to various examination venues to ensure the smooth execution of the verification process.
The official further revealed that Shenzhen has already begun planning and establishing a facial recognition system for use across various types of examinations. Currently, the system is in a trial operation phase; for instance, during the recently held physical education component of the high school entrance examination, facial recognition technology was deployed in specific segments of the testing, while other segments remain in the testing phase.
